Joe Anne Myers

Joe Anne Myers, a beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away Monday, June 7, 2021 at her home surrounded by family at the age of 94. Joe Anne was born January 14, 1927 in Ames, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Kent. On November 20, 1949 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Eugene Myers. The two were very involved in their four children’s activities. They were active in sponsoring Teen Dances. Jobs Daughters, Bluebirds, and the PTA. Joe Anne and Dick loved to square dance and travel to visit family and friends, especially in Canada. At her home she loved to tend to her garden, paint, quilt, and sew. Joe Anne was a lifelong learner and took many courses at Kansas City Kansas Community College and aced them all. She was also a lifelong member of the Metropolitan Avenue Methodist Church. The most important thing in her life was her family. She loved gathering for family holidays and dinners. She would do absolutely anything to make sure you felt welcome in her home. She always made sure her family was well fed and taken care of. She deeply loved and cared for everyone and will be missed dearly. She is preceded in death by her husband Dick Myers; three children, Vickie Rhodes, Kristine Bermann, and Patty Morgan; son in laws, Larry Rhodes, Larry Bermann, and Ron Morgan; and sister Rosha Damron. She is survived by her daughter Dixie Hall and husband Jerry; ten grandchildren, Robin, Robert, Randy, Brian, Samantha, Matthew, Larry, Michael, Ken and Kristie; fifteen great grandchildren, Derrick, Peter, Clay, Alyssa. Alex, Abby, Andrew, Madelyn, Jackson, Emma, Tori, Rowyan, Baby Larry, Josephine, Spencer; and ten great-great grandchildren, Caleb, Avery, Korbin, Keaton, Aaliyah, Brooklyn, Tillie, Davis, Jacob, and Colton. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM Saturday June 12, 2021 at Maple Hill Funeral Home. A graveside service will begin at 11:00 AM at the Maple Hill Cemetery. Following services the family will host a dinner at the Calvary Chapel Fellowship Hall, 2614 S 18th St, Kansas City, KS 66106. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Good Shepherd Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
