Mark Raymond Hallisey

Mark Raymond Hallisey, age 41, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Missouri. Mark was born September 12, 1975 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Michael Raymond and Vivian Irene (Toler) Hallisey. Mark spent his childhood laughing and playing with friends and cousins, and was known as the life of the party, even in his youth. He greatly enjoyed playing sports of all kinds; soccer, baseball, wrestling, football, he loved them all and developed deep, life-long friendships with many of his teammates. He graduated from Turner High School in 1994. On June 26, 1999 Mark was united in marriage to Michelle Smotherman. They shared two sons, Mason Ryan and Maxwell Raymond Hallisey, which were the greatest source of pride and joy in Mark’s life. He loved to spend time with his boys, and he especially treasured attending their sporting games and matches. He would often share the story of their last game, recalling each play in great detail. He loved his sons with his entire being, and was proud to tell everyone about them. Mark worked various manufacturing and construction jobs throughout his life, and he took great pride in each job. He was always eager to learn new skills and would often share stories of his current work projects, what he was learning from them, and how he thought the processes could be improved. Most recently he was serving as project manager for Bridge Turnkey Investments, where he managed the repair and renovation of investment homes. He loved working with tools, building, and fixing things, and he frequently helped family and friends with renovations to their homes. Mark was always helping people and took much joy in making others laugh and feel good. Throughout his entire life, Mark was a big practical jokester, teller of funny stories, and watcher of comedy movies and videos. Mark was also a huge sports fan and was an avid supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. Mark's most compassionate work was being a devoted and caring father, son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. He loved his family and he loved his friends as if they were his family. His big heart, his laugh, and his warm spirit will always be remembered and will continue on in their lives forever. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Calvin and Velma Toler, and Mary DePriest; father, Michael Raymond Hallisey; step-father, Joseph Costanza; and uncle, Wayne Toler. Mark is survived by his mother, Vivian I. Costanza of Gladstone , Missouri; two sons, Mason Ryan and Maxwell Raymond Hallisey both of Basehor, Kansas; brother, Michael Robert Hallisey (John William Stump) of Gladstone, Missouri; grandmother, Marilyn Toler of Kansas City, Kansas; fiancé, Angela Raquel Reyes of Kansas City, Missouri; ex-wife Michelle Smotherman of Basehor, Kansas; step-mother, Penelope J. Hallisey of Gardner, Kansas; uncle Warren E. Toler of Blue Springs, Missouri; niece, Mallory L. Jolly (Jacob) of Overbrook, Kansas; nephew, Thomas M. Stump of Gladstone, Missouri; and great-nephew Hayden W.J. Jolly of Overbrook, Kansas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 28, 2017 at Maple Hill Funeral Home in Kansas City, Kansas, with the burial to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 P.M. Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Maple Hill Funeral Home in Kansas City, Kansas. In honor of Mark’s love of the KC Chiefs and Royals, the family invites guests to wear your favorite Chiefs or Royals gear to the visitation and funeral.
