Terry Gene Kirch

Terry Gene Kirch was born on February 24, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri to parents Merle and Arphena Kirch. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on March 22, 2023 in Gardner, Kansas. Terry is well loved by his wife, 3 children, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and large family. His life is characterized by his deep care for his family and by being an honorable man for all who were lucky enough to know him. Terry and his wife, Kathy, fell in love at an early age and were high school sweethearts. They were devoted to each other and loved each other deeply for 56 years. Along with his love of woodworking, Terry enjoyed the outdoors and you would often find him doing things that he loved such as playing fetch with his dog, gardening, sitting outside, watching wildlife, hiking in the mountains, fishing & most of all playing senior softball with his friends. Terry began his working career with the City of Olathe and eventually climbed his way to the superintendent of the city’s wastewater department position from where he retired after a long, successful career. His family will miss his silly smile and his big laughs and hugs but is comforted knowing that they will meet again. Terry was a Christ follower and he understood that one day, he would meet his Lord. This meeting was incredibly announced immediately after his death by a pack of coyotes howling very near to his home. His family is thankful that he passed away peacefully with his large family at his side and was released from the terrible disease of dementia. He will be missed by many. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Merle E. and Arphena L. Kirch (Richardson) of Overland Park, Kansas. He is survived by his wife Kathleen of the home; son, Michael E. (Melissa L.) Kirch of Olathe, Kansas, daughters Tamela J. (Glenn A.) Stockton of Gardner, Kansas & Leann D. (Chad A.) Schroeder of Rantoul; grandchildren: Madison Kirch, Micheal & Rylie Waris, Amanda Maness, Elizabeth Maness, Deontea Kirch, Ronald & Angella Beaver, Zachariah Schroeder, Cameron Schroeder, Nicholas Schroeder, Derrick & Jessica Stockton, Derek & Sophia Kandt, Alexander & Nicole Stockton; and many, many wonderful great grandchildren all of whom he loved tremendously.
