Barbara S. Keltner

Barbara Sue Keltner, 81, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2024, just three days shy of her 82nd birthday. She was at the home of her sister, Jill Karashin, surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Barbara was a remarkable woman with many talents, including painting, sewing, cooking, baking, and dog grooming. She was a certified Sealy porcelain doll instructor and had a passion for camping, boating, and traveling. Barbara's adventurous spirit led her to visit every state in the country, including Hawaii. Her career included time at Montgomery Ward and as a cook for Bluejacket Grade School and Shawnee Mission Northwest, from which she retired. She also took on side jobs as an upholsterer and seamstress. Above all, Barbara's greatest joy was her family. She cherished her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will forever hold wonderful memories of their beloved "Mimi." Barbara was preceded in death by her grandparents, William C. and Ida Belle Eidson; her parents, Milton McGrew and Fern C. Eidson; and her beloved husband of 52 years, Laurence Keltner. She leaves behind her two children, Donna Corbett and her husband John, and Bill Keltner and his partner Lisa Shriver; her two sisters, Jackie McGrew and Jill Karashin; three granddaughters, Heather Williams, Stephanie King and her husband Llamar, and Victoria Frazier and her husband Grant; two great-granddaughters, Kinadee Frazier (10) and Jahni Burnett (6); four great-grandsons, Ethan Cutshall (17), Ayden Mosley (16), Carson Frazier (8), and Lincoln Burnett (7), along with seven others; two cousins, Virginia Diekrick and Patricia Donahoe; five nephews, Jack White, Richard Kinder, Steve White, Adam Karashin, and Sean Karashin; two nieces, Debbie Barger and Tammy Brull; as well as many great-nephews, great-nieces, and her cherished furry friend, Peanut. Barbara was an extraordinary woman, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is now free from her earthly struggles and reunited with her beloved husband. A service and celebration of Barbara's life will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at Charis Church, located at 5425 Martindale Rd., Shawnee, KS. The doors will open at 3:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that they not be sent to the church. Instead, please send them to: 5329 Lewis Ct.
