Charles Wayne Strandt

Charles Wayne Strandt, born on February 6, 1939, in Kansas City, KS, passed away at the age of 85 on September 27, 2024, in Basehor, Kansas. Charles, an engineer with Union Pacific Railroad, dedicated many years to the field, showcasing his expertise and commitment. Service in the US Naval Reserve was marked by the same level of dedication and integrity. Wayne had a vibrant personality, known for his storytelling and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. His interests were varied and deep, ranging from restoring antique miniature trains and cars to camping and regular trips to Branson. He was often found in his shop, working on a new project or simply enjoying the company of friends and family. His stories will be missed, as will his great sense of humor, which remained with him to the end. Wayne’s passing leaves behind a void for those who knew his generous spirit and the love he had for his family, which was the centerpiece of his world. He is survived by his daughters, Beth Huffaker and husband Ron, Cheryl George and husband Steve; son, Jeff Strandt; grandchildren, Jay George and wife Ashley, William Roach, Nicole Russell and husband Justin, Michele Robinson and husband, Kyle, Connor Strandt, Ivy Strandt and fiancé, Micah, Gentry Strandt; and great-grandchildren, Abby, Noah, Hailey, Hannah, Aiden, and Iyla; as well as his beloved dog, Hazel Mae. Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Meryllee Strandt, and daughter, Debbie Strandt. Services will be held at Maple Hill in Kansas City, KS, on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to The Agricultural Hall of Fame. The arrangements are under the care of Maple Hill Funeral Home, Kansas City, KS. Waynes’s life and legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, as a man who made everything and everyone around him better. A visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 10:00-11:00 A.M. at Maple Hill Funeral Home, with a graveside service to immediately follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. The family encourages everyone to wear what they feel most comfortable in for the services.
