Clarence Victor Edler

Clarence Victor Edler, 78, passed away on September 7, 2023. Clarence, the son of Glenn and Grace Edler was born on October 1, 1944. He is preceded in death by both of his parents; 3 brothers-Hubert, John and Lewis and 3 sisters- Lorraine, Georgia, Kaye. He leaves his wife of 44 years Debbie Edler; David, Amy, Ben, Emma Edler, Kristi, Mike, Connor, Madison Marshall, -Sisters; Eva Hanners, Shirley McNally and Sister- in- law Mary Edler and brother-in -law Don Graham. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many other family and friends that loved him very much. All of these he loved and touched deeply. Clarence would like you to know that his work here is done. He received a call to come home Thursday, September 7, 2023. Clarence will be reuniting with his parents, brothers, sisters and friends, he has not seen in a long time. He will be in a wonderful place where he will be socializing, fishing and hunting and playing card games to his heart's content. Hugs Laughter and Love are guaranteed. Clarence and Debbie made God the center of their relationship, marriage and raising their children/grandchildren. They attended Mass together and any events for the grandkids. His desire was to instill his faith in God to them and give his kids/grandkids this Spiritual Foundation for Life. Clarence was a hard worker, a great provider, a loving Son, Father, Papa, Brother, Uncle and Friend. He was a great stay at home Dad, making sure the kids got to school and back home. He helped doing chores during the day and had supper on the table when Debbie got home from work. He held various jobs over his life and did maintenance with a school district before retiring. You might have seen him at a Swap Meet. He loved buying and selling and was a great negotiator. Most buys went his way. David remembered, he went to one booth bought a fishing pole for $1, came back to sell it for $5. Clarence never met a stranger. He always stood up for the little guy. He was a great supervisor and delegator over projects around the house for the many friends that worked for him. Even though he pushed them to work hard. They said, he always gave them great compliments on what a good job they were doing. Clarence was all about Family. He always put everyone else first before himself. He loved his brothers and sisters very much and helped them whenever they were in need. He was a friend to many. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Those whose lives he touched felt his generous and loving spirit. Everyone will remember he had the biggest smile. It could light up a room! Don’t feel sad for me, I will always be watching over you and be your guardian angel now. Just think of me as “Gone Fishing for a While” until we meet again. Following the burial, please join the family at St Joseph’s Catholic Church – in the basement under church, McDevitt Hall for a luncheon to commemorate Clarence’s life. A few of Clarence’s favorite things: • He loved to spend time with Debbie, his kids and grandkids. • He loved playing games with his grandkids and taking them fishing. • He loved going to the Family Reunions. He would buy extra items so we had plenty to sell for the auction. • He loved to Go Fishing, have BBQs, playing horseshoes and cornhole with friends and family. • He was very competitive. We enjoyed many volleyball tournaments at John and Lewie’s house, such fun times. • He was a scavenger of Holiday Homemade Noodles and bonafide card shark. • His favorite holidays were Christmas and the 4th of July where he bought way to many fireworks, but the kids and grandkids loved it, so did the neighborhood kids. • He loved traveling with Debbie and the kids going on trips to Disney World, Silver Dollar City, Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone. • He loved listening to Elvis and Johnny Cash and Jim Reeves. • We watched so many black and white westerns that David didn’t think we owned a color TV. John Wayne movies were the favorites. • He was a man of few words, but he’d speak loud enough to make sure everyone knew he was entering the area. • He was a Jack of all Trades and could fix anything. He kept up with the maintenance on the house and the cars running great. • He loved going metal detecting with his buddy Scott. They came home with a lot of great treasures. • He loved working on things in the garage and then sitting down to shoot the breeze with the neighbors, Lavon, Allen and Phil.
