Delores Mae Cronin

Delores Mae Cronin, 94, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, at the University of Kansas Medical Center, surrounded by family. She was born on May 3, 1931, in Vernon County, Missouri, to Forrest and Verna McCormick. Delores grew up in Metz, Missouri with her parents and 3 siblings. She graduated from Metz High School in 1949. She met her future husband, Glenn Welsh while working as a carhop. They married and had their only child, Glenda, on July 18, 1952. They divorced in 1980. Delores worked in finance and believed in hard work. She didn’t retire until she was well into her 70’s. Delores was baptized on July 28, 1984 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She dedicated over 41 years of her life to serving God, Jehovah and spreading His word. She often spoke about her hope for everlasting life in paradise on earth. Delores had a lifelong passion for cooking—whether watching cooking shows, exploring new recipes, or reading cookbooks, she loved creating meals to share with family and friends. For Delores, feeding others was a true expression of love. She had a particular sweet tooth for chocolate and took joy in gardening, and caring for her flowers, especially her annual tomato plants. She cherished her time with her beloved pets, enjoyed shopping and dining out. Above all, Delores treasured time with her family, who were the center of her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Verna McCormick; her daughter, Glenda (Welsh) Figge; and her siblings, Evelyn (McCormick) Dale and Martin McCormick. Delores is survived by her son in law, Melvern Figge; grandchildren, Jeannie Figge, Jennifer Figge, and Dustin Figge; her brother, Rex McCormick; nieces and nephews, Debbie Apple, Patti Goode, Mike McCormick, Terri Ellis, Don McCormick, and Sharyl Dale; great grandchildren, Alex Ayala, Ciera (Ayala) Harley, Miranda (Ayala) Mayes, Selma Figge-Tirado, Tristen Jackson, Trejen Jackson; great great grandchildren, Amira Mayes; Malcolm Mayes, Evelyn Harley, and baby Harley on the way. A visitation will be held at 4:00 PM with a memorial service beginning at 4:30 PM, Saturday, August 23, 2025 at the Kingdom Hall, 8300 W 79th Street, Overland Park, KS 66204.
