Dennis Michael James

On August 11, 2016, Denny James was reunited with his dad as he was welcomed into Heaven to see Jesus face to face. Denny was born to Dennis Mitchell James and Barbara Marie James (Choate) on June 3, 1974 in Kansas City, Kansas. At age fourteen, Denny accepted Christ as his Savior. He graduated from Oak Grove Baptist High School in 1992 and went on to be a Master Tech at Overland Park Jeep Dodge Chrysler where he worked for twenty-three years. He was a very proud father of two amazing children – Alexander Michael James (age 22) and Hannah Renee James (age 18). In 2012, he married his love, Alicia Ann James. Denny loved and was adored by his sisters, Lesa LeAnn Woolace, Rhonda Lynette Hughlett, and Tammy Louise Wolf. He loved family holidays, where the competitive girls vs. boys games often brought out his personality as he became the life of the party with his funny stories. Denny was beloved by his brothers, Eric Hughlett, Andrew Wolf, and Jimmy Woolace. He was admired by his nieces and nephews which include Brady James-Woolace, Emily James-Woolace, Ethan Hughlett, Megan Hughlett, Raegan Hughlett, Mathew Wolf, Easton Woolace, Sophie Woolace, and Audrey Woolace. Hunting, fishing, the Kansas City Royals, and KU basketball - these were his favorites. As an avid hunter, he was excited to tag his first buck while hunting with his wife, Alicia, in 2014. He was an exceptional athlete and loved the outdoors. He was proud of his children, his country, and his beard. Denny will most be remembered for his huge heart, his willingness to help, and his love of family. His greatest desire was to see his children know and love Jesus. There will be a celebration of Denny’s life on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Overland Park Baptist Temple. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. followed by the celebration service at 7:00 p.m. In honor of Denny, please feel free to wear your favorite Royals, KU, or camouflage clothing. Because Denny had a heart for our Christian missionaries around the world, the family is asking that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Denny’s name to the missionaries supported by the Overland Park Baptist Temple.
