Desmond T. Tallie

Desmond Termayne Tallie was born on October 16, 1989 to LaCresa Harris (Tallie) and Robert C. Scroggins, Jr. He was the youngest of 4 children: Ebony Tallie, Ebony Scroggins, and Ta’Rell Ewing (Tillman). Desmond discovered his love for sports at the early age of 5. He played basketball and baseball, but he was a special football player. Desmond truly thrived at the linebacker position. Due to his knowledge and passion, coaches regularly let him create plays for the team. He’s infamously known for the “Tallie-Bomb”. His teammates and coaches all praised his leadership, toughness, and competitive spirit. He also enjoyed playing dominoes, spades, chess, bowling, and golf. Desmond was talented and creative with a love for music. Since high school, he has: written songs, recorded mixtapes, and collaborated with his peers on their projects. Desmond was a prolific writer and passionate storyteller who used music to express himself and discuss his perspective on life, love, and the world around him. Desmond attended school in the Turner Unified School District and the Kansas City Kansas Public School District. He was a proud graduate of Sumner Academy. After graduating, Desmond attended the University of Kansas. He worked his way through school and started his working career at Pre-Hop Cleaners in 2010. In 2018, he started an online-based retail store called Tallie’s Health & Beauty. Desmond became a licensed insurance agent in 2023. Within the last three months, Desmond achieved his goal of becoming a Co-Owner of Pre-Hop, alongside his business partner and friend Karyn Scarborough. Desmond had a special connection to everyone who walked through those doors. He turned strangers into friends and friends into family. Desmond had a genuine and deep love for his family, friends, and his community. His impact was immense and unforgettable. His infectious laugh, big bear hugs, and high-level conversations will be deeply missed. Desmond was known to end conversations with phrases like: “Love” and “Be safe”. His love ran deep. His voice carried weight. He was loved by many, respected by all. By definition, Desmond was the realest. He was preceded in death by his father Robert C. Scroggins, Jr., his maternal grandmother Betty J. Etier, paternal grandmother Kay Malone, aunts Kimberly Morris and Sharon Thomas, and uncle Roy “GG” Smith. He leaves behind his beloved son Castiel Ortegon Tallie (age 2), mother LaCresa Harris, paternal grandfather Robert “Pop” Scroggins, Sr., sisters Ebony Tallie, Ebony Scroggins, and Ta’Rell Ewing (Ryan Ewing), nephews Demond Tallie, Aden Hill, Andreas Hill, nieces Amari RaShonne Tallie, Jazmine Jones, Brandi Jones and a host of other loved ones.
