Dolores Martinez

Dolores was born in Kansas City, Kansas on June 25, 1943. She was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Lopez) Rodriguez. She graduated from Northeast High School, Kansas City, Missouri, Class of 1961. She took Voice and Chorus and participated in the School Choir. She was the first of the family to attend college. She attended the former National College that was located on Van Brunt and Truman Road in Kansas City, Missouri. Dolores worked for the Kansas City Life Insurance Company for over 25 years. She married Luis Ochoa Martinez on May 11, 1972 in Kansas City, Missouri. During their marriage they moved to Mexico City for ten years, returning to the Northeast neighborhood in 1989. They were married for 28 years before he passed away in 2000. She was a devoted member of The Cure Non Denominational Church in Kansas City, Kansas for many years and loved her church and church family wholeheartedly. She was a loving sister and Tia (aunt). She was affectionately known to her nieces and nephews as "Tia Hita". She was extremely intelligent, she had a tremendous sense of humor and enjoyed the company of her family and friends around a good meal out to eat. She lived on N. Quincy in Northeast KCMO and later at the Berkshire Apartments in KCKS. Her home was always open and many family members and friends lived with her at various times over the years. She was a constant presence at family picnics and gatherings. Dolores was predeceased by her parents, her husband Luis, her brothers Henry Jr, Tony, Robert "Bobo", Frank, and Joe Rodriguez, sisters Patricia "Lulu" Pacheco and Gloria Pacheco. She is survived by her brothers Carl Rodriguez of Kansas City, Missouri, John (Theresa) Rodriguez of Independence, Missouri, and sister Sandra Rodriguez of Kansas City, Kansas a multitude of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, 3x great nieces and nephews, her beloved church family and many friends. Visitation 12 noon to 1:00pm.
