Donna Morales

Donna Morales, age 78, passed away February 1, 2026, surrounded by her family at St Luke's North Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Donna was born on June 6, 1947 to Daniel and Bessie Morales in Bell Hospital (presently KU Medical Center) in Kansas City, Kansas. She was raised in Kansas City, Kansas, graduating from Wyandotte High school -Class of 1965. Donna raised her children in Prairie Village, Kansas. She sold real estate before moving to Houston,Texas. In Texas she worked for Travelers Insurance for a number of years. A strong woman of faith, she was very active in the church, studied the Bible, and sang beautifully in the choir. Her four chihuahuas; Mama Carmelita, Chicago White Socks, Lolita, and Little Thelma meant the world to her. Donna's sisters remember her as a bubbly, fun person, always smiling and laughing-lots of laughter. She was passionate and adventurous: violin lessons, singing and playing guitar, starting a baseball team... she would give her older sister a ride on her bicycle to work at Smak's Hamburgers in Kansas City, Kansas. In high school she was on the swim team. Her bulldog "Pete" became famous as the Senior Class of 1965's Mascot, attending all of the home football games. She loved Elvis, cooking, lived in Los Angeles for a couple of years, and even ran a marathon in Houston, Texas. Living her dream, she resided in a Casita camper for 7 years in Brenham, Texas before moving back to the Kansas City area in 2022. She was living in Leavenworth, Kansas when she passed away. Donna is survived by her two children: son Randy (Betsy) Stewart of Prairie Village, Kansas; daughter Gina (Whitt) Drewyor of Arlington, Texas; and their father David Stewart. She is also survived by six sisters: Jenny Hobeck of Toronto, Kansas; Olivia Moralez of Kansas City, Missouri; Mary Ellen Day of Turner, Kansas; Elenor Clark of Kansas City, Kansas; Ruth (Victor) Dyerson of Burlington, Kansas; Abbie Morales, of Grain Valley, Missouri; three grandchildren: David (Ana) Stewart of Orlando, Florida; Danielle (Joshua) Rusterholz of Clarksville, Arkansas; Charlie (Chikako) Kabrich who lives in Japan; six great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Donna is preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Bessie Morales; her sister Carol Patterson of Jefferson City, Missouri; her grandson Christian Stewart of Austin, Texas. There will be a celebration of life on June 6, 2026 at Antioch Park Shelter # 1 from 4:30 until 7:30. (south entrance) 6501 Antioch Road Merriam, Kansas.
