Florabelle Walker Ellerman

Florabelle Walker Ellerman, 97, a woman of unwavering faith, went to be with her Lord on January 17, 2018, surrounded by friends and family at her home in Kansas City, Kansas. A visitation will be Sat. Jan. 20, 2018 from 10-11 AM, with a funeral at 11 AM, At Maple Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Garden in KCK. She was born March 17, 1920, in Bennington Oklahoma, the oldest daughter of the late Joseph and Kate Bonham. As a child she survived the Market Crash and the Dust Bowl with her parents and little sister. She finished school in Oklahoma and married her a young soldier soon after graduating. Three years later with 2 babies, she watched as WWII started and her husband was shipped off to France. All of her adult life she has been passionate about teaching children, whether it be her own or those that belong to Christ. She loved her Lord, Family, friends, music, being outdoors, reading, traveling, camping, and caring for the animals. She was always so thankful. She held different secretarial jobs before retiring from Wyandotte Mental Health Center in 1990 as a office coordinator. She kept busy by camping and traveling after retirement, holding bible study groups and teaching an adult Sunday school class until the age of 96. She was proceeded in death by her parents Joseph and Kate Bonham, Sister Jonita Bovee, late husband Leon Walker, late husband Luther Ellerman, sons Joe Clinton Walker, David Leon Walker, Dennis Paul Walker, James Phillip Walker, daughter Jane Kathleen Walker and granddaughter Dana Darlene Walker. She is survived by her grandson of the home Philip Walker, daughter Linda(James) Brown, daughter-in-laws Karen Walker and Donna Walker, granddaughters Lisa(Allen) Williams, Krysti Merritt, Christine Walker, Amber Walker, Heather Walker, Rheanna Walker, and grandsons Darrel Walker, Jared Walker. Devlon Walker, Travis Walker, Dakota Walker, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. "Mom you have given so much and asked for so little in return. Thank you for always being there for us or teaching us and listening to us. Helping and forgiving us and always praying the way you did with us and for us. We will work hard to take care of the land and all that God has created and try to reach the standard you set. Farewell sweet mama. You were simply magnificent."
