James "Jim" Anthony Kimmons

James “Jim” Kimmons Jr. of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on Wednesday May 17, 2023 after reaching the age of 88 years old. Jim lived a long, full and prosperous life. He was born on January 10, 1935 in Kansas City KS to James A Kimmons Sr. and Mildred Cook. He attended Holy Name Catholic School. In 1952 Jim met the love of his life, Virginia “Ginger” Miller. They were married in 1956 They were inseparable for over 70 years. He thought the sun rose and set on her. He would tell you that his proudest accomplishments of his life was their two sons James A Kimmons III and Robert Kimmons. Recently his wife fell ill, he was so worried he’d have to live without his Ginny.. He wasn’t ready for their love story to end so three days after she passed, Jesus reunited them. As a very young man he learned to work hard and to take on whatever job was available to support himself and his family. He worked for the railroads, and later became a truck driver which he retired from in 1992 He took extreme pride in his two sons. He taught them everything he knew. Even after Jim lost his eyesight he still enjoyed working on old cars and fixing up his house, Jim was able to fix any and everything (even if silicone was involved) Some other hobbies included playing the harmonica, reading the newspaper, and most importantly telling us stories “about the good old days” He was a strong patriarch of his family, a great friend to all, a man who would give the shirt off his back for anyone. It was often said that there wasn't a stranger that Jim didn't know-or a smile kept to oneself. He is preceded in death by parents, James A Kimmons Sr. and Mildred Cook loving wife, Ginger Kimmons, son, Jimbo, sister, Shirley Kimmons-Brady He is survived by siblings Michael (Jan) Kimmons and Patti (Tony) Cates, son Rob Kimmons, Daughter-in- laws, Jeanette and Kim Kimmons, grandchildren, Rob, Bo, Krischelle (Josh) and Billy Great-Grandchildren Joshua, Elijah, Bbo, Ana, and Bill-Bill Words can’t describe how much we will miss Jim. We understand that life on earth has to end, but love doesn’t. Jim was a man of God, he knew he was going to heaven and would want us to celebrate his life. We believe he is walking hand in hand with Jesus and his Ginny watching us now.
