James "Jim" Edward Schnacke

James “Jim” Schnacke, 64, of Merriam, Kansas left this world peacefully in the presence of his loving family on August 17, 2017. Jim wanted to make one thing clear to everyone, he did not lose his battle with cancer. It was a tie. When he died, it died. Jim was born on July 29, 1953, the son of Philip H. and Mary E. Schnacke. Jim attended Shawnee Mission West High School and still stays in touch with many of his high school friends. While in high school he worked at Putch’s Cafeteria in Metcalf South. He would still to this day talk about his days working at Putch’s. He worked for Conmaco Inc. for 3 years and loved working with the people he met there. When he left Conmaco, he went to work for ACME Ink which later changed their name to INX International Inc. Jim retired from INX after 37 years in 2014. He always said the company was very good to him and he loved his co-workers. Jim loved his wife Becky, and his family. He also loved Christmas, motorcycles, music (he was an avid Grateful Dead fan) reading, shotgun shooting, easy Sudoku’s, TV, beer, food, and naps. Jim and Becky loved to travel and they traveled quite a bit in the last few years. They toured Ireland and England. They flew to Barcelona and Rome, Cruised Jamaica, Hawaiian Islands, Cancun, San Louis Del Cabo, and Alcapuco. Jim loved to make everyone laugh and he was always very good at it. Even in his last days, all of his friends and even his doctors and nurses would have attested to this. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1972 to 1977. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Carol Ann. Survivors include his wife Becky, his daughters; Althea Marie Schnacke (Laura), Lawrence, KS, Rebecca Troutt Kansas City MO; son Ace Philip Schnacke (Brittany), Sister, Cynthia(Charlene), grandchildren; Abie, Aiden, Brandee, Breah, Ethan, Skyler, and one great granddaughter Pheonix. A memorial visitation will be held at Maple Hill Funeral Home 3300 Shawnee Drive, KCK, 66106, on Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM with military honors starting at 7:30 P.M. After the military honors the family would like for family and friends to honor him sharing by sharing some thoughts, memories and stories.
