Janet Rose Dressler

Janet “Jan” Rose Dressler, 90, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on December 31, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 14, 1935, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth DeGraeve. Jan lived a life defined by love, joy, and generosity. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, bowling, playing bingo, dancing, fishing, and tending to her tomato plants. She could often be found watching The Price Is Right and Wheel of Fortune. Above all else, Jan deeply loved and cherished her family and friends. She was always willing to help and happily embraced her role as the family and friends’ “taxi driver,” never hesitating to show up whenever she was needed. Jan not only raised three, and perhaps more, generations of family through her unwavering love. She had a remarkable ability to make each person feel like the most special one. To know her was to feel chosen, deeply cared for, and always welcomed. She was also a proud businesswoman. Jan worked at Sears, where she even wrote the employee newsletter, and later went on to open and operate Dressler Dog & Horse Supply alongside her family. She took great pride in retiring early to pour her love and energy into family and friends. Jan met every challenge with grit, humor, and grace. She never shied away from hard work and always found room for a little mischief and shenanigans along the way, often in the company of her sister-in-law (Dort). Her dedication, loving spirit, and the way she showed up for others will be remembered by all who had the joy of knowing her. To be loved by her was to feel deeply known and fiercely cared for. Her home was a refuge and place of celebration, her kitchen a place of comfort, and her heart the largest anyone had ever known. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Albert, Maurice, Omer, Clarence, and Florine. Jan is survived by her children, Denise Dressler and Dennis Dressler; her grandchildren, Rachel Phelps, Nathan Dressler, and Colby Dressler; her great-grandchildren, Lucas, Chase, and Caleb; and her bonus daughters, Bridget and Lisa. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends whom she loved like family. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Kansas City, Kansas.
