Jimmie Allen Peters Sr

Jimmie Allen Peters Sr, 68 of Merriam, Kansas went home surrounded by the love of his wife, children, and loyal popcorn sharing dog, Buddy, on Tuesday October 20 2015. His life is a testimony of a life well lived. He was a good and honest man, a true friend and a gentleman to all who knew him. He was a man of character and integrity. He never met a stranger and loved to talk especially if the conversation was about cars, food or politics. He made lasting friendships throughout his lifetime. He was a patient man and took great pleasure in teaching others what he knew. He was a creature of habit and common sense prevailed in his everyday life. He was a shining example of helping others, working hard and being positive. He was born in Granite City, Illinois and lived in Ellis Grove, Illinois until moving to Kansas as a child. He was proud to say he was an “old Argentine boy”. He started working at the age of twelve with a paper route and continued working until he became ill in December of 2013. He served in the U.S. Army as an operating room specialist. He was owner of Mac’s Little Banquet in Argentine, Kansas until its closing in 1989. He was employed with Reddi Services as a pump truck driver and for almost twenty years he dealt with “a lot of crap” and made many friends within the company and on job sites. The man could handle a shovel and carry hoses like no one else! He took great care of his customers and enjoyed educating them. He was known for owning many cool cars over the years and loved to show the photos. He loved watching racing, football and the Royals with his children. He loved going to estate sales with his wife and just taking drives. His favorite past time was getting out in his yard to landscape and mow. He loved food and was quite the cook. He loved to sing, had a beautiful voice and enjoyed slow dancing with his wife. He was a hard worker and provided for his family. He loved his children above all and was the love of my life. He has quite a large family and always looked forward to spending time with them. He was secure in his belief and faith in God as evidenced by the way he lived his life and in his last days. He lived through his sickness with grace, courage and laughter. He was an incredibly strong man who inspired those around him while going through his own storm. For those who were blessed to know and love him have suffered a tremendous loss, but know we are only separated by distance, he is home safe, and we will be together again. “Glory, glory, hallelujah, He reigns!” He leaves behind his wife Sandy, daughter Heather, son Jimmie Jr (Brianna Schaffer), brothers Dennis Peters (Cora Lee), Bill Peters (Linda Friedman), Randy Peters (Linda), brother in law, Ed Vandenberg, sister Ruth Ann Wallace, and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nephews, and nieces. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Frank and Nelda Peters, his sweet sister Kay Vandenberg, and gentleman brother in law Gary Wallace.
