John Bertram Roark Sr.

Date of Birth: 17 September 1935 Place of Birth: Kansas City, Kansas Date of Death: 27 October 2025 John Bertram Roark, Sr., was born on 17 September 1935 in Kansas City, Kansas to Clarence Aldon Roark and Genevieve (Pierce) Roark. He was the youngest of four children: Clarence O., Doris, James, then John. All preceded him in death. John married Juanita (Juana) (Bernal) Roark on 21 March 1959, in Muncie, Kansas. They went on to raise their four children: Michele (Kenneth) Garrett, John B. Roark, Jr. (Lori), Maria G. Roark, and Christopher S. Roark. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Juana, his son Chris, his granddaughter, Jessica N. Roark, and 5 infant great grandchildren: Garrett, Micaela, Henriken, Johnathon and Thomas. John worked many years as an Electrician, and retired from Colgate Palmolive. He was a proud member of the IBEW. After retirement, he and his beloved Juana were able to travel around the United States and enjoyed much time with their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and friends. John was a member of Sacred Heart/Our Lady of Unity Parish for over 50 years. He attended Mass until health issues curtailed his activities. John always looked for ways to learn new things and was heavily involved in Electronics, Jazz or any good music, he learned basic Spanish, enjoyed his computers and had many good years of communicating with people all around the world being a ham operator. John proudly served his Country as a member of the United States Army. John also participated in a monthly lunch with his fellow retirees from Colgate Palmolive. He was a big fan of the Kansas City Royals, the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas Jayhawks. John is survived by his children: Michele (Ken) Garrett, John B. (Lori), Maria G., his grandchildren: Cristi (Wayne) Thompson, Steven (Charee) Garrett Suttle, Bruce Garrett, his namesake, John B. Roark, III (Phuong/Jasmine), Elissa (Josh) Wright, and 2 precious great grandchildren: Kenji Mateo Roark, and Leia Michele Wright. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. A visitation for John will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 9:00 - 10:00 AM with a funeral mass to follow at 10:00 AM. Burial will take follow services at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
