Jon B. Williams

Jon Berdet Williams, 69, of Tonganoxie, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Providence Medical Center. Jon was born on November 23, 1956, to Kenneth and Joyce Williams. A gifted athlete, Jon excelled in wrestling throughout his youth. He was a standout high school wrestler who earned a college wrestling scholarship, allowing him to continue competing at the collegiate level. Following college, Jon remained involved in the sport he loved by coaching wrestling and helping mentor young athletes. He dedicated more than 30 years of service to the United States Postal Service before retiring. It was during his time with the Postal Service that he met the love of his life, Marta Vasquez-Williams. The two were united in marriage on March 26, 2009, and shared many wonderful years together filled with love, adventure, and family. Jon was a devoted sports fan who enjoyed attending games and cheering on his favorite Kansas City teams, including the T-Bones, Chiefs, and Royals. He was also a passionate supporter of Nebraska Cornhusker football. Beyond sports, Jon and Marta shared a love for travel and created countless memories together through vacations and family road trips. Some of their favorite adventures included trips to Cancun and Corpus Christi, Texas. Above all else, Jon treasured time spent with his family. His grandchildren brought him immense joy, and some of his happiest moments were spent making memories with them. He also found great peace and satisfaction at his home in the countryside, where he enjoyed caring for his lawn and relaxing by the swimming pool. Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Joyce Williams, and his sister, Debra Landaker. He is survived by his loving wife, Marta Vasquez-Williams; his children, Silver Spirit and Joshua Vasquez Cantu; his cherished grandchildren, Dawn, Antonio, and Amaya; his brother, Neil Williams; his sister, Michelle Paschke; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. A Rosary Service will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1100 West Street, Tonganoxie, Kansas 66086. Visitation will follow from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the church.
