Joy Wade

Joy May Wade born April 1, 1957, in Selma, Alabama, passed away peacefully to be with her beloved Jehovah on November 11, 2024, in Overland Park, Kansas. She was the beloved daughter of Raymond and Louise (Tripp) Motes. Joy was a loving partner, wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend whose legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched. She leaves behind her partner in crime Dennis Dressler. Joy is survived by her children: Sarah (Aaron) Inskeep, Jessica May, Daniel Joshua (Stephanie) May, Bobbie May, Lacy (Jonathan) Bouton, and Kelly (Lucas) Palmer and Janelle Quick. Her love for her family extended to her cherished siblings Diane (Earl) Gruver and Martin (Sharon) Gulley and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Joy was a proud grandmother to Nick, Krystn, Robert, Alyssa, Danielle, Nathan, Elizabeth, Ethan, Trinity, Jayden, Persephone, Dylan, Emerald, Konnor, Joy and Kadence. She was also blessed with the joy of many great-grandchildren who brought her endless happiness and pride. She is preceded in death by her mother Louise Tripp, Her father Raymond Motes, granddaughter Joy, great grandson Samuel, brother Donald Motes, sister Penny Gulley, and other dear family members she is once again reunited with. Joy loved her family. Family was everything to her. This resulted in many close relationships with multiple family members that will miss Joy deeply. She was very involved and close to her many grandchildren. She could be found around the campfire with her grandchildren all around her on more occasions than you could count. She will be deeply missed by each of her grandchildren. First and foremost Joy loved her children. This was obvious to anyone who knew and loved Joy. Her love for her children was incredible and unconditional. She will be deeply and forever missed by each of them. She enjoyed hiking, concerts, dances, movies, sunrises and sunsets on the beach, music, traveling and reading. She loved sharing these adventures with her loved ones. She loved spending holidays with her family. She was easy to laugh and the first to smile no matter where she was. Joy was also extremely hard working and proved this through many years working for UPS and then System Air where she retired from holding a position of Quality Control Technician. She was very proud of her accomplishments. She was always a beam of positivity. Because the world around is so negative. She only liked to surround herself with positive things and positive people. She was a very happy person and loved fully. Joy leaves behind many, many close friends Dale and Liz May (father of her children) and Maryanne, Dana and Marilyn just to name a few. A celebration of Joy’s life will be held Saturday, November 23rd, from 1 to 4 pm. Location is American Legion 6521 Neiman Rd, in Shawnee.
