Laurie David Henderson

Laurie David Henderson (Dave), 82, of Roeland Park, KS, passed away peacefully the evening of May 25th. Dave was born on September 20th, 1940 and grew up in the Kansas City Metroplitan area. He lived with his parents (Herrell and Sovilla Henderson) and brother (Walter Edward "Eddie" Henderson). Dave graduated from Rosedale Highschool. After graduating high school Dave went to work for the US Postal Service as a Mail Carrier. While Dave retired from the US Postal Service his work ethic and ability to service did not end. He went on to own a lawn mowing business and work for Classic Carrier, where he enjoyed driving and delivering medical equipment to several locations across several states. During life, Dave enjoyed spending time at his lake home at Pomme De Terre Lake. He enjoyed teaching his grandchildren to water ski and fish at a very young age. Dave also enjoyed golfing and bowling; where he had a few 300 games. Later in life Dave enjoyed sitting outside listening to audio books and dozing off. Dave knew no stranger and would always be willing to help anyone he met. He was hilarious, even when he wasn't trying to be. Dave had many titles; Son, Brother, Cousin, Husband, Father, Grandpa (G-PA as known by many) and friend. While he cherished all of these titles, Grandpa was his favorite. Dave dedicated his life to being a father and grandfather, and his love for them was unconditional. Dave will be remembered as a patient, wise, silly and loving man. While this life may seem a little different without Dave in it; the ones closest to him will always hold him dearly in their hearts forever. Dave was preceded in death by his Parents; Herrell and Sovilla Henderson, Brother Eddie Henderson. He is survived by his daughters Michelle Kirk, Kristin (Martin) Legendre; his Grandchildren Scott (Tammi) Henderson, Justin Jarrett, Jessica Tremonti, Sarah Tremonti and Ryan Kirk; his Great Grandchildren Grace, Samuel, Parker, Elaina and Ellis; as well as numerous others who he considered grandchildren regardless of their blood line. A Celebration of Life for Dave Henderson will be Friday June 2, 2023 from 4-4:30 pm at Multiply Church 1201 N 67th St Kansas City, KS 66102. Immediately following from 4:30-7 pm, will be a casual evening filled with pictures, memories and a pot luck dinner at the church. In honor of one of Dad's favorite meals, the immediate family will supply assorted BBQ meats. Feel free to bring a side dish or dessert. We welcome any pictures and/or memories you would like to share.
