Leeanna Liles Howser

LEEANNA LILES HOWSER Leeanna Liles Howser of Lenexa, Kansas passed away on August 11, 2011, at the age of 95. Leeanna was born July 11, 1916 in Caruthersville, Missouri. She was the daughter of Clyde Sevier Liles and Clella R. (Kerr) Liles. Her father farmed and her mother was a school teacher. She had 3 sisters and 1 brother, who preceded her in death. She married Hiram Tennyson (Tenny or H.T.) Howser on September 23, 1939. He and a daughter, Susan Ann also preceded her in death. Due to her life's circumstances, she firmly held onto the premise of "Doing the right thing". She became head of household, primary wage earner, wife, mother, cook, caretaker, seamstress, nurse for ill family members, and housekeeper. She retired in April 1982 from Industrial State Bank, Argentine, Kansas, as Vice-President-Bookkeeping. She attended Metropolitan Avenue United Methodist Church. After her retirement, it was a pleasure for her to volunteer at her church. She assisted with their Food Pantry, participated in Cancer Action, Peace Makers, and their Missionary Society. She is survived by 3 daughters. Gay Holliday (Rich), Nancy Freeman (Jesse) of Lenexa, Kansas, and Mary Sivley (Les) of McKinney, Texas, and a nephew, Arvil Van Adams of Springfield, VA, six grandchildren, Joseph Jefferson of New York City, New York, Alisa Jefferson of Merriam, Kansas, Kara Larson Brent (Greg) of Flower Mound, Texas, Shana Larson of Shawnee, Kansas, Grant Larson (Debbey) of Olathe, KS, Jami Luttrell Pemberton (John) of Iberia, Missouri, seven Great Grandchildren, Athena Brent, Jessica Brent, Garett Larson, Grayson Larson, Derek Luttrell, Kaitlin Luttrell, K and Skylar Pemberton. Visitation will be from 6-8pm on Monday, August 15, 2011 at the Metropolitan Avenue United Methodist Church. Funeral Services will be held at Metropolitan Avenue United Methodist Church, on Tuesday, August 16 at 1pm. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Metropolitan Avenue United Methodist Church, 3730 Metropolitan Ave., Kansas City, KS 66106 or Kendallwood Hospice, 2908 NW Vivion Rd, Riverside, MO 64150. Her contagious laughter will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
