Lloyd Dean Apperson

Lloyd Dean Apperson of Kansas City, Kansas, born January 26, 1964, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones on August 1st, 2022. He courageously battled three different cancers from December 2014 to August 1, 2022. He was a lifelong resident of the "Dotte." He worked 33 years for Roadway and Yellow Freight. Lloyd is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Apperson. He is survived by his loving wife of twenty eight years, Brandi (Myers) Apperson; daughter, Kristie Darby (Brian); two beautiful grandchildren, Graham and Reese; son, Brandon Apperson; daughter, Riley Apperson; mother, Barbara (Pope) Apperson; sister Betty Bittner (Dave); brother-in-law, Ron Myers (Jenny); two sister-in-laws, Angela Myers (Jimmy Chilson) and Kim Myers; mother-in-law, Charlene Myers; six nephews; two nieces; and his childhood friends, John (Janet) Moore and Paul (Lisa) Varriano. Lloyd loved watching KU basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs. He enjoyed the Lake of the Ozarks as well as high school and college football. He was a member of the Piper Optimist Club where he served 8 years as president. He coached numerous teams in the Optimist League, but his favorite kids to coach were his own children. His biggest pleasure was watching his children and grandchildren grow up. His determined spirit helped him fight every battle he was faced with. His faith in the Lord sustained him through it all and allowed him to find comfort in the fact that even though his earthly journey was ending, his new journey was just beginning in heaven, where he will one day be reunited with all that loved him. He had a devoted army of family and friends and The Legend will live forever in their memories. The wake will be held on Thursday, August 4, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kansas from 5-8PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 5, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at 10AM. Burial will follow immediately at Maple Hill Cemetery, 3300 Shawnee Dr., Kansas City, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be mailed to Appl Orchard Hospice, 7730 Hedge Lane Terr, Shawnee, Kansas 66227.
