M. Lovenia Hanes

M. Lovenia (Smith) Hanes age 82 of Liberty, Missouri passed away Wednesday March 8, 2017 at the Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Missouri. She was born June 12, 1934 in Glencoe, Oklahoma the daughter of Vernie Ray Smith and Esther Pearl (Vanatta). In September of 1962, Lovenia was united in marriage to Richard E. Hanes. They shared over forty years of marriage before Richard passed away on April 7, 2007. To this union they shared four children; Eldon, Tanja, Lyndel and Ronald. Lovenia was a selfless person who loved and cared for people. She was very active in her church and was a dedicated prayer warrior. She was a long time Sunday School teacher, Bible Study leader and mentor for Jesus to many. In her early years she enjoyed traveling with Richard. She enjoyed crocheting and cooking for her family and friends. She was very passionate about her country music. She loved all animals, especially Peggy Sue her pup. Most of all, Lovenia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who's warm spirit and loving heart will be missed by all her family and friends. In thinking about Lovenia, she could be exemplified by God first, family second and herself third. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Richard; one son, Elden Briscoe; two brothers, Levon Smith and Lynn Smith; and one sister, Laroma Lee. Lovenia is survived by her children; Tanja Johnson and her husband Steve of Liberty, MO, Lyndel Hanes of Liberty, MO and Ronald Hanes and his wife Tamara of Kearney, MO; one sister, Lovella Anderson of Oklahoma City, OK; four brothers, Ludie Smith of Oklahoma City, OK, Lewie Smith of Oklahoma City, OK, Leonard Smith of Oklahoma City, OK and Larry Smith of Nashville, Tennessee; fifteen grandchildren; Lesley Shull, Clayton Briscoe, Cody Luster, Joe Luster, Austin Briscoe, Brandon Briscoe, Lindsey Briscoe, Amanda Briscoe, Holly Briscoe, Caylin Briscoe, Megan Sims (Derrick), Alison Ouska (James), Samuel Johnson, Devin Hanes and Julia Hanes; seven great grandchildren, Shyanne Shull, Moriah Fuimaono (Robert), Zailin Briscoe, Heath Sims, Henry Sims, Shepard Briscoe, Clementine Briscoe; six great great grandchildren, Vanessa Fuimaono, Brandon Fuimaono, Austin Fuimaono, Skyla Shull, Dreydon Shull and Joella Shull; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Liberty Christian Church in Liberty, Missouri with the burial to follow at Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty, Missouri. A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 P.M. Sunday, March 12, 2017 at the Maple Hill Funeral Home in Kansas City, Kansas.
