Norma Berniece (Young) Stutzman

Norma Berniece (Young) Stutzman of Miami, OK formerly of Kansas City, KS was born September 18, 1925, in Lafayette County, MO to Henry G. and Ida May (Krutzmann) Young. She went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Berniece attended Lafayette County, Missouri Public School and graduated from Farmers High School May 20th, 1943. On November 21, 1947, she married Franklin T. Stutzman in Kansas City, MO. During WWII she was one of the female employees to support the war effort as a “Rosie the Riveter” going to work for North American in 1943. She went to work at Campbell 66 where she met Frank and married after dating 3 months on November 21, 1947. They were married 50 years until Frank passed away in 1998. She also worked at Mid-American Truck Line retiring in 1982. After her retirement she and Frank traveled with friends and made their dream trip to Alaska in 1984. She enjoyed many different and creative things, such as racing go-carts, fishing, her flowers, working in the yard, sewing, painting, macramé lawn chairs and was a huge KC Chiefs fan. She was a member of Immanual Baptist Church, Miami, OK and a former member of Olivet Baptist Church, Westwood, KS Berniece was preceded in death by her parents, husband Franklin T. Stutzman, son Craig T, Stutzman, infant sister, Lillian Young, sister Fern Reynolds, four brothers, Dempsey Young, Jeff Young, Harrison Young, and Everett Young. She is survived by her daughters Pam (Wes) Billings, Roeland Park, KS and Gwen (Gary) Wray, Grove, OK. Eight grandchildren Lisa (John) Garcia, Independence, MO, Jeff Billings, Independence, MO, Stacey Roberts, Kansas City, KS Megan (Cameron) Cooper, Shawnee, KS, Paige Billings, Mission, KS, Evan Billings, Las Vegas, NV, Samantha L Mendenhall, Port Allen, LA and Joshua (Erika) Mendenhall, Jacksonville, NC. Seven great-grandchildren Breanna Garcia, Sydnie Roberts, Alexander Roberts, Brandon McPherson, McKinleigh Cooper, Oliver Accurso, LJ McKee, Matthew Moore, Samantha G. Mendenhall as well as many nieces & nephew’s. Visitation will be held Monday, March 13, 2023 at Mapel Hill Funeral Home from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with funeral services being held Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 10:00 am with Pastor Bruce Anderson of Olivet Baptist Church officiating burial will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorial donations made to Comforting Hands Hospice of Grove, OK or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
