Patricia Ann O'Malley-Ryan

Patricia Ann O’Malley-Ryan, 73 of Kansas City, KS left us peacefully on March 26, 2025, in her home in Eudora, KS with her husband, Larry & niece, Shawna by her side. Tricia was born on October 29, 1951, to Patrick & Joan O’Malley at the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the oldest of seven children and loved to make that known. Tricia started working at the University of Kansas Hospital in 1973. She worked in many areas of the hospital until she was trained to become a surgical tech in the operating room where she found her place. She also enjoyed her time working in the Gene & Barbara Burnett Burn Center where she helped patients heal from their burns. In 2014 after 41 years of service, she decided to finally pass her last suture scissor and retire. Tricia met her life-long love, Larry Ryan, in 1974. They developed the love of traveling and exploring the country, whether it be on a motorcycle or in an RV. In 1984 they found their second home at Treasure Lake Resort in Branson, MO. They enjoyed being in their RV, seeing shows, going to Silver Dollar City and hanging out with their friends they made there over the years. In her free time, she enjoyed cruising with her friends to different countries, going shopping, gambling, baking, gardening, cheering on KU basketball, going out to eat and babysitting her great nephew Wyatt and great niece Maddilyn. Tricia was also a great caregiver to her mom Joan, who she took care of for many years and was best friends with. They enjoyed gambling (even if they lost), going out to eat and traveling to Branson and Oklahoma. Tricia was preceded in death by her father Patrick (Pat), mom Joan, sister Karen, brother Kevin, grandparents Edmond “Babe” and Marie O’Malley and Orville and Grace Ryan. She leaves behind her husband Larry, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 7 nieces, 4 nephews, 18 great nieces & nephews, 3 Godchildren and many friends. Whether you know her as Patricia Ann, Patty, Tricia or TC she will always leave a special place in your heart and know that it’s ok to be stubborn sometimes. A visitation will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. in leu of flowers donations to the University of Kansas Cancer Center or the Burnett Burn Center at KU
