Pay had one maternal brother, Txhaj Foom and two maternal sisters Kaab Zuag and Npheev; three half brothers, Nyaj Yeeb, Vaam Npis, and Xeev Ntxawg; four half sisters: Cua, Mim, Maiv, and Ntxawm. In the year of 1961 as the war erupted in Laos, Pay's father Ntxoov Vaag Xoom moved his family from Khaas Hoos to Haav Tua Dlev, Laos. It was there in Haav Tua Dlev that Pay met the sixth son of Ntxhoo Tuam Her, Cha Xia Her. Cha Xia Her was a soldier stationed in Thablee Noi not too far from Haav Tua Dlev. Cha Xia and Pay were married in February of 1961 and started a family. Cha Xia left the military and relocated the family to Long Cheng in 1965 where he became a successful teacher while Pay was a homemaker and tended to their family and farm. Pay and Cha Xia Her had two sons Lee and Lor, two daughters Shoua and Soua, and two nephews Kao and Chou, who they adopted as their own. After immigrating to the United States and settling in Kansas, Pay had three more daughters See, Maryle, and Pang. Pay and Cha Xia had a total of nine children (two deceased). In September of 1998, Cha Xia Her passed away. Several years later in 2001, Pay then married Chang Xia Lee and gained another daughter, Nou Lee. Pay and Chang Xia Lee lived in love, taking care of their grandchildren before Chang Xia Lee lost his battle with cancer in 2011. Pay was a woman who was humbled and simple; she worked hard day and night (raised chickens/pigs and worked the field) to provide for her family in Laos. In America, she learned English for a short time and dedicated her life to care for her children and grandchildren; in addition, she managed all the financial affairs of the home. She was like a merchant ship, her household always had abundant food to eat. On Saturday, April 15, 2023, surrounded by her family, Pay passed away peacefully in her home. Pay was loved by many and lived her life loving others unconditionally. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, watching Hmong dramas, and spending time with family and friends. She dedicated her life to her family and was faithful to the Lord. Her last words to her loved ones were: “I’m not afraid, I know where I am going already. I’m going to be with Jesus in God’s Kingdom, and I will be watching over everyone from Heaven. As you all live on, you all must love each other dearly.” Pay is survived by her children, Lee, Shoua, Soua, Lor, See, Maryle, and Pang; 35 loving grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
