Penny Wilson

Penny Wilson, 70, of Valley Falls, KS passed from this life into Heaven on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. Penny Louise Riedinger was born March 27, 1952, the daughter of John Alban and Frances Kathleen (Price) Riedinger, at Cushing Hospital in Leavenworth, KS. She was baptized into the Catholic Church of St. Joseph of the Valley in Easton Kansas. Penny worked for 40+ years as a nurse, owning a nursing home in Easton, Kansas. While Penny loved caring for her patients, her crowning achievement and greatest joy was her family. She loved you unconditionally, whether you were good, bad, or ugly. Penny married Lawrence Wilson on May 28, 1977, in Leavenworth KS. Penny enjoyed spending time in her garden with Dolly (her dog), feeding birds, and she had recently become a bee keeper. Penny loved having her family over to celebrate holidays & feed anyone and everyone that arrived. She was known for her amazing German chocolate cake and Snickerdoodles. If you were the newest member of the family, you were assigned the job of cutting onions. She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Frances Riedinger, mother in-law Alice Wilson, and nephews, Jude Voight and Jay Patrick Vail. Penny is survived and dearly missed by her husband of 45 years, and her four children, Chris (Kim) King of Oskaloosa, KS, Shelly Jo Rodriguez of Amarillo, TX, Lawrence (Rita) Wilson of Parkville, MO, and Adam (Sam) Wilson of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren Christopher, Allison, William, & Avery King, Jefferey (Riley), Abigail, Samuel, & Benjamin Rodriguez, Larry, Joshua, & Frances Wilson, and Aiden, Eric, & Tyler Wilson; 24 nieces & nephews, 41 great nieces & nephews, and her 6 siblings, John (Margaret) Riedinger of Basehor, KS, Paul (Tina) Riedinger of Kennewick, WA, Shelly (Daryl) Seth of Amarillo, TX, Fred (Lisa) Riedinger of Amarilla, TX, Don Riedinger of Richland, WA, and Rob Riedinger of Broken Arrow, OK. Visitation with the family will be at Maple Hill Funeral Home from 9-10 am and the funeral services will begin at 10:00 am. A reception will follow at the Vox Theatre Event Space,1405 Southwest Blvd Kansas City, KS 66103. Memorial are suggested to St. Jude Hospital.
