Robert (Bob) D. Johnson Jr.

Robert (Bob) D. Johnson, Jr., 83, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 12, 2025, surrounded by his wife, Judy, and family. Bob was born in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, to Robert Dean (R.D.) Johnson and Marguerite Windmiller Johnson on June 26, 1941. Bob married his “True Love,” Judith (Judy) Anderson, on August 27, 1960, in Columbia, Missouri. The two shared a blessed and loving marriage for 64 ½ years. Bob was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Judy; sons, Robert III (Julie) and Chris (Dawn); grandchildren, Michelle (John), Stephanie (Josh), Christian (Ashley), Ian, Alexandria, Olivia, and Jacob; and great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Emmalee, Kylie, Regan, Mason, Isabella, Illiana, and C.J. He is also survived by his siblings, Carol, Sue (Paul), and Michael (Nirma). Bob and Judy were high school sweethearts and graduated from Hickman High School in Columbia in 1959. Go Kewpies! Their class has held a reunion every five years, and Bob and Judy only missed one. After attending the University of Missouri for a year, Bob served in the Army and Army Reserve from 1960–1966. Their son, Robert III, was born in 1961. In 1964, they moved to Kansas City, Kansas. Bob began a long career as a letter carrier with the Post Office, retiring after 34 years. In 1965, their son Chris joined the family. Bob was a big fan of the Missouri Tigers, KC Chiefs, and Royals. Bob spent his spare time volunteering. He coached Chris’s baseball teams through high school. In 1983, he organized a baseball team at Maranatha Academy, where Chris attended. The school still has a team. He also umpired baseball at area league games. Bob and Judy volunteered together. They organized a parents’ booster club at Maranatha. Their sons were active in Youth for Christ, now Youth Front. When the boys attended summer camp, Bob and Judy served as counselors. Their favorite vacations were spent traveling with Chris and his family to Branson, where they enjoyed Silver Dollar City and Sight & Sound Theatre. Bob and Judy have been members of Cross Points Church, formerly Full Faith Church of Love, since 1978. Our family thanks the staff for their friendship and loving attention. We also thank the staff at Aberdeen Village and Ascend Hospice for their devotion and loving care over the past year. They became a part of our family. Arrangements are at Cross Points Church, 6824 Lackman Rd, Shawnee, Kansas, on Monday, February 24, with visitation at 5:00, followed by the service at 6:00.
