Robert "Bob" George Chaney Jr.

Robert “Bob” George Chaney Jr., 70, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on April 25, 2026, in Merriam, Kansas. He was born on January 18, 1956, in Olathe, Kansas, to Robert George Chaney Sr. and Ethel Chaney. Bob spent his entire upbringing in the same home in Prairie Village, Kansas, a place that remained dear to his heart throughout his life. He attended Shawnee Mission West High School, where he was a proud member of the football team. He later went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University. He was known for his outgoing personality and genuine kindness—he never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel welcome. Bob took great pride in his neighborhood, often snow-blowing driveways and helping keep his street in top shape. With a smile, he referred to himself as “the mayor” of his street. Bob had a deep love for the outdoors and lived an active lifestyle. He participated in many rodeos at the American Royal and was an avid boater and water skier. For over 20 years, he and his family cherished their time vacationing together at the Lake of the Ozarks. He enjoyed many camping trips over the years. He and his wife, Sandy, also owned and operated Stumpy’s Bar at the Lake of the Ozarks for two years, creating lasting memories and friendships. Bob had a special bond with his beloved dog, Bailey. One of his daily routines included stopping by McDonald’s to bring home a plain hamburger just for Bailey. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Sandra Chaney; his stepson, Eric Huddleston; his stepdaughter, Tara Huddleston (Joy); his brother, Don Chaney (Cathy); his sister, Sheryl Gulley (Dave); and his beloved dog, Bailey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert George Chaney Sr. and Ethel Chaney; his brother, Richard Chaney; and his sister, Mary F. Chaney. A memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Maple Hill Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Robert’s honor. Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his legacy of kindness, humor, and community spirit will live on in the hearts of many TTO - To The Ozarks!
