Ruth Ann Gentry

Ruth Ann was born on June 8, 1961, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Jerry and Jody Perry. From an early age, she carried with her a spirit of kindness, resilience, and devotion to those she loved—qualities that defined her throughout her life. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Ruth Ann’s life on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Maple Hill Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 9:00–11:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. She married Bruce Gentry, and together they built a home full of adventures, love, and laughter. Ruth Ann found her greatest joy in being a mother and later a grandmother. She dedicated many years as a stay-at-home mom, pouring her heart into raising her children. When her children grew older, she worked as a paraprofessional in the school system so she could remain close to them during the school day—a testament to her constant presence and devotion. Ruth Ann cherished the simple pleasures of life. She loved being outdoors, soaking up the sunshine. She loved shopping whether it be for clothes, furniture, or gifts for others. She was a proud and spirited fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. Her excitement was contagious as she hosted family and friends to enjoy the games. More than anything, she treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren. Whether she was cheering from the stands, enjoying a family gathering, or sharing quiet moments at home, Ruth Ann never missed an opportunity to be part of their lives. She will be remembered for her deep love of family, her selflessness, and her ability to make everyone around her feel seen and valued. To her children and grandchildren, she was not just a mother and grandmother, but a best friend, confidant, and constant source of encouragement. Ruth Ann leaves behind her loving husband, Bruce Gentry; her children, Annie Lee (Tanner), Harlie Gentry (Jordan Burgess), Gracie Gentry, and Marcos Ramirez; and her cherished grandchildren, Jessica Lee and Jentri Lee. She is also survived by her siblings, Vince Perry (Angela) and Sara Perry (John McLaury); along with many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and dear friends who were like family to her. She was welcomed into heaven by her parents, Jerry and Jody Perry; her daughter, Jessica Gentry; and her grandson, Maximus Mateo. Though her passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, Ruth Ann’s legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
