Obituary for Mother Ruthie Mae Burnett (Bullock) “Blessed Assurance” “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on. Yes, says the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.” – Revelation 14:13 Life’s Journey Mother Ruthie Mae Burnett was a beloved servant of God, a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was born on December 11, 1944 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late parents, Louis T. Bullock and Eva Mae Bullock (Miles). Early in life, Ruthie gave her heart to the Lord Jesus Christ and walked faithfully in His ways. She was rooted in her faith, anchored in the Word, and found peace in the blessed assurance of salvation through Christ Jesus. Her life was a testimony of grace, prayer, and unconditional love to family, friends, and co-workers. Mother Ruthie Mae Burnett was known for her gentle spirit, her warm smile with the golden sparkle, and her unwavering faith. She faithfully served in the Second Metropolitan Baptist Church, KCK for many years. In her later years she was a faithful supporter and quasi-member of Greater Community Baptist Church. Through it all and the years, Mother Ruthie M. Burnett encouraged others with her prayers, story songs, and words of wisdom. She poured into her children, grandchildren, and friendship community the love of God and the values of integrity, kindness, and the ministry of helps. The chronicles and issues of Mother Ruthie’s life and heart were inked on the pages of many journals and short devotional thoughts. She loved to write it all out and tell the Lord about her life and the needs of others. Scriptural Assurance “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day.” – 2 Timothy 4:7-8 Mother Ruthie Mae Burnett has now entered into eternal rest, safe in the arms of Jesus. Her faith has become sight, and she has received the crown of life promised to those who love Him (James 1:12). Cherished Memories She leaves to cherish her memory: Daughters and son, Leticia D. Gilbert-Parks (Chris A. Parks), Nikko R. Howell; grandchildren, Orion X. Parks, Leneisa C. Parks, Keith R. Bullock, Jr. and Kendra Bullock (Keith R. Bullock, Sr.); Dawn Huffman and beloved children; great-grandchildren, Arielle S.N. Massey (Keith L. Massey-Parks, deceased), Tenaya Bullock and Jakayla Bullock (Beth), and five other great-grandchildren (Keith R. Bullock, Jr.); siblings, Joyce Downs, Cleotha “Rock” Jones, Mississippi; nephews and nieces and their families; Natalie Bullock, Bridgette (Bullock) and Danny Singleton, Stephanie Bullock (Bennie L. Bullock), John and Jan Randle, Tommie Lewis and Debbie Randle, Patrica and Rick Branch, Anthony Ray Randle, Andre and Monica Randle, Michel Randle. A host of dearly beloved extended family, relatives, beloved friends, and church family who celebrate her life and legacy. Ruthie Mae Bullock was married (1965-1968) to the late Melvin E. Gilbert for a brief time; and later married Verlyn Burnett in the late 1980’s for a short duration (divorced). She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis T Bullock and Eva M. Bullock, siblings, Myrtis L. Randle, Bennie L. Bullock and Eileen M. Bullock, son, Keith R. Bullock, Sr., grandson, Keith L. Massey, Jr., nephew Ronald Randle and niece, Pearlie Randle-Miles, and ex-husband, Melvin E. Gilbert.
