Terry Michael Callahan

Terence "Terry" Michael Callahan, 64, of Lawson, Missouri went to be with the Lord on December 20, 2021. Terry was born the son of Bernard and Alberta Callahan on October 27, 1957, in Kansas City, Kansas. He is survived by his wife of 40yrs, Jewel Heywood; son Steven Callahan (Leslie); daughter Aubrey Dykeman (Jeremy) and four brothers Kevin (Vickie), Dennis (Ava), Kelly (Bobbi), and Patrick (Tracie). He is preceded in death by both of his parents and sister, Kathy (Ed). Terry worked at Union Pacific Railroad as a brakeman, conductor, and finally, a locomotive engineer for over 40 years. This career ran in the family as he was trained by his father, and he was thrilled to have been able to assist in training his brother and nephew. He enjoyed many years working for UPRR and always thought he was lucky to have a career that seemed more like fun than work. Even still he was ready by retirement to move on to the next phase of life. He also learned throughout the years the art of rehabilitating homes and enjoyed doing that side by side with his lovely bride along with other friends he partnered with. He had a God-given gift of discernment in people, which both guided and guarded his family in many different situations. He loved the Lord and was a faithful listener/follower to the end. He spent time reaching out and visiting friends; he even struck up a friendship with their neighbor and would spend frequent hours visiting. He enjoyed karaoke like no one else, loved spending time growing his pool game (so he could beat any visitor) and drumming, along with building model cars. He was passionate about patriotism, freedom as an American, and in making sure the truth was seen by those he cared about most. Though he joked around with people quite a bit, he cared deeply about those around him, always trying to balance speaking the truth with speaking in love and kindness with others. He also thoroughly enjoyed having friends and family over to target shoot and learn gun safety. Terry loved his family deeply, and loved to bring joy to everyone around him through his contagious laugh. He has proven to be an incredibly faithful and loyal man, and loved his family unconditionally and passionately. He showed that especially through acts of service and endless cards/notes of love and encouragement. A celebration of life is scheduled at 3:30 pm on Saturday, January 29th at Liberty Christian Fellowship at 1815 W Liberty Drive, Liberty, Missouri.
