Winfred Dale Carter

Winfred “Dale” Carter passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born on February 2, 1958, in Pittsburgh, Kansas, Dale was the son of George W. Carter Jr. and Ruth Waneta “Griffitt” Carter. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, pastor, and friend, Dale dedicated his life to serving the Lord and sharing the Gospel. Alongside his beloved wife, Kathy L. Carter, he faithfully ministered for 35 years and served as a dedicated pastor within the Church of God. His unwavering faith and compassionate spirit touched countless lives throughout his ministry. Dale was a true family man who treasured every moment spent with those he loved. He embodied the role of father and grandfather not only to his own family but also to many others who were blessed by his guidance, wisdom, and kindness. Whether gathered around a card table, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other’s company, Dale cherished time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, and extended family. He enjoyed cheering on the Kansas City Royals, listening to The Beatles, and spending time in nature. From fishing trips to admiring palm trees, Dale found joy in God’s creation and appreciated life’s simple blessings. Dale is survived by his loving wife, Kathy L. Carter; his son, Winfred “Dale” Carter II and wife Rachel; his daughters, Carolyn McGuirk and husband Jeff, and Cindy Day and husband Bobby; his sister, Carolyn Allen and husband Randy; his grandchildren, Jacob Carter and wife Abbey, Christopher Carter, Aubrey Gideon and husband Justin, Jason McGuirk, Jenna Day, and Katelyn Carter; his great-granddaughter, Amelia “Mia” Carter; his nieces and nephews, Dusty Brewer, Misty Childers, Lloyd Dale Carter and wife Robyn, and Tammy “Sunshine” Carter; along with many great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. Carter Jr. and Ruth Waneta Carter, and his brother, Lloyd Carter. A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Lighthouse Community Church of God, 515 N. Main Street, Ottawa, Kansas 66067. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Dale’s legacy of faith, love, service, and devotion to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that he faithfully finished his race and is now at home with the Lord.
