Dale Eldridge Shank Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Dale Eldridge Shank, 63, of Basehor, Kansas passed away at his home on July 28, 2022 after a brief battle with ALS. Dale was born on May 18, 1959 in LaCrosse, Kansas to Lee and Leola Shank. He started at Kansas School for the Deaf at age 6 and graduated in 1979. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Leola (Schwindt) Shank; his brother, Dennis Shank; and sister, Kathryn Shank. He is survived by his loving wife, Lorrie (Boyce) Shank; daughter, Mitzi (Graham) Robinson; son, Jeremy (Adriane Metcalf) Shank; grandchildren, Samuel Robinson, Ellen Robinson, Anna Robinson, James Shank, Jacob Robinson, Benjamin Robinson and Nathan Robinson; brother, Duane Shank; sister, Deanne (Shank) Ficken; sister-in-law Gaylene Shank. In addition, Dale leaves behind a very large and loving extended family, as well as his loyal canine companion, Benson. He enjoyed his life as a husband, father and grandfather. He loved fishing from a very young age, camping, serving as your neighborhood handyman and visiting with his grandchildren. He always enjoyed woodworking, remodeling friends' homes, and providing maintenance work at the Olathe Club of the Deaf and the Museum of Deaf History, Arts and Culture. Dale was a gentle man who loved to laugh and loved to make you laugh. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to the Museum of Deaf History, Arts & Culture. Friday, August 5, 2022 at Maple Hill Funeral Home, 3300 Shawnee Drive, Kansas City, Kansas 66106. Memorial service will begin at 11:00 A.M. There will be a gathering at the Museum of Deaf History, Arts, & Culture following the memorial service from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.
