    Dorothy Elizabeth "Doe" Cook

    July 6, 1930 - March 17, 2022

    Dorothy E. "Doe" Cook, 91 yrs. old, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on March 17, 2022 in Independence, Missouri. Graveside services will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery in Kansas City, Kansas at 11:30 AM Saturday March 26, 2022. Followed by a Celebration of Life at Maple Hill Funeral Home. Dorothy will be laid to rest with her late husband, Jack D. Cook. Doe was born in Kansas City, Kansas to L.C. and Ada Maddox on July 6, 1930. She grew up on the hill above Argentine and attended Argentine High school. Dorothy married her husband, of 61 years, Jack D. Cook on June 21st, 1947 at the Maddox family home. Doe worked a variety of jobs, but her most notable and favorite was running a daycare out of her home so that she could stay home and raise her own 4 children. Doe, and her late husband Jack, were very active in the American Ex-Prisoners of War chapter in Kansas City and enjoyed going on trips and conventions with the group until the past few years. In her "retirement" years Dorothy loved to plan trips and vacations for friends and family to enjoy the sites and shows in Branson, Missouri. Doe was a member of the First Christian Church of Independence, Missouri. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Jack D. Cook (Kansas City, Kansas), father L.C. Maddox (Kansas City, Kansas), mother Ada B. Maddox (Kansas City, Kansas), sister Margaret Dean (Harpers Ferry, West Virginia), sister Frances Mock (Mission, Kansas) and brother L. C. Maddox, Jr. (Columbia, Mo.). Dorothy is survived by her son Jack D. Cook, I1 (Karen), daughter Sandra "Sandy" Rust, son Bruce W. Cook (Cheri) and son Jeffrey "Jeff" Cook (Lavonna). She is also survived by her brother Jeff M. Maddox (Eleanor). Doe leaves 8 grandchildren - Jared Cook (Amy), Courtney Trusler (Paul), Shelly Crawford (Bill), Jeremy Putzier (Priscilla), Sheena Cook, Marybeth Cook, Jacob Cook, Joshua Cook (Stephanie), 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. In lieu of flowers the family request gifts be given to 1st Christian Church of Independence, or Harbor Hospice.
