Earl W. Gunter Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Earl Wayne Gunter, 84, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at North Kansas City Hospital. He was born September 23, 1935 in Benton, Arkansas the son of Earl and Dora Gunter. Earl was a carpenter by trade. He worked as a superintendent for J.E. Dunn construction until retirement. He helped in the construction and remodeling of many notable buildings in the Kansas City Metro area. He also did carpentry work on many homes and fixer uppers. Outside of work he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and canoeing. He loved animals. Most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a very well respected man and a wonderful father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents; six siblings; and a son in law, William R. Thompson. He is survived by four children, Ruth Ann Thompson of Roeland Park, KS, Marilyn Salazar of Independence, MO, Terry Meyer (Bruce) of N. Kansas City, MO, and Danny Gunter of Independence, MO; an honorary son, Robert Perez; five grandchildren, Dana Elder (Jason), Joshua Laws (Katy), Christina Haynes (David), Stephanie Laws, and Amber Rider (Justin); six great grandchildren, Wesley and Silas Laws, Nathan and Lilly Elder, and Abby and Jayden Rider. A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, January 26, 2020 from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at Maple Hill Funeral Home, 3300 Shawnee Dr. Kansas City, KS 66106. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to an animal shelter of your choice.
