Gertrude Jewel Clifton passed away on January 22, 2022. She would have celebrated her 104th birthday on February 27. Gertie was born in 1918 to Henry and Mary Jane (Jenkins) Wyman in Rueter, Missouri. She moved to Kansas City to live with her sister Pearl and work at National Biscuit Company. She married William Clifton in 1936. They raised two daughters, JoAnn and Jean. Gertie worked for KCKPS as a Lunch Lady for 40 years. She retired in 2013 at the age of 95 from Frank Rushton School. She loved her job and often said, "All they need is a good meal and a hug". She also worked many years at election polls. Gertie loved making big meals for her family. She lived a well-loved life and gave us many memories. Survivors include her daughter, Jean Bartley; Grandsons, Rick Bobki (Lori) and Chris Bobki; Granddaughters, Ivy (Bartley) Ballister (Rob), Melissa (Bartley) Leach (Adam), Grandson, Josh Bartley (Lyndsey); Great Grandchildren, Cody Bobki, Kyleigh Bobki, Kyla Ballister, Grant Ballister, Simon Leach, Lucas and Ayden Bartley. Gertie was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 1990, daughter JoAnn in 2000, grandson Kelsey Bartley in 1974, her parents, 4 sisters and 5 brothers. She will rest in peace at the Wyman Cemetery in Rueter, Missouri.
