Jackie David Inglish
October 14, 1935 - October 9, 2021
Jackie David Inglish, 85, of Kansas City, KS passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Adventhealth Shawnee Mission. Jack was born October 14, 1935 in Parsons, KS the son of Marrel and Hazel Inglish. He grew up fishing and playing baseball. He was a “lefty” pitcher and developed quite the pitch. He started work with the Santa Fe Railroad but then was drafted into the Army and stationed in Mainz, Germany for two years with the 367th Ordinance Detachment. He played first base for his unit’s softball team which went undefeated the entire time he served. Upon his return to the States Jack found work again with the Santa Fe Railroad and moved up to Kansas City. Eventually Jack retired with the railroad but stayed in Kansas City in his little white house on the corner. Jack truly enjoyed fishing – whether on the river or at a lake. He had a knack for taking in “visiting” cats and was blessed with wonderful friends and neighbors. He might have been slow to talk initially with you, but once he got to know you, he had a wry sense of humor. Born and raised in Kansas he loyally followed the Kansas City Royals and the Chiefs throughout the years. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Barbara Jean Mills. He is survived by his brother-in-law Marvin Mills, Fort Worth, TX; nephew Roger Mills of Ft. Worth, TX; and niece Lori Mayes of Ruckersville, VA. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM with services beginning at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Maple Hill Funeral Home.
