Janie Serda Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Janie Serda, 61, of Kansas City, KS, passed away Monday, October 5, 2020. She was born March 28, 1959, in Donna, Texas to parents Teresa & Mamiliano Serda. Janie was a life time resident of the Kansas City area where she graduated from Harmon High School and was successful in her career most recently serving as an interpreter utilizing her bilingual skills to assist many within the Hispanic community. Surviving Janie are her children: David Serda of Kansas City, MO and his sons Dalton and Brayden; Natalie (Nick) Grim of Independence, KS, and their children, Annabelle, Judah, and Gideon; Stephen Serda of Kansas City, MO; and Stephanie Serda of Overland Park, KS, and her son, Kyson. Also surviving are Janie’s many brothers and sisters: Robert (Juanita) Serda of Santa Clarita Valley, CA; Daniel (Diedra) Serda of Kansas City, KS; Jose (Joey) Serda of Anderson, MO; Josie (Darren) Strickler of Olathe, KS; Angie Serda of Overland Park, KS; Lolly Cerda of Mission, KS; Gracie Yarborough of Merriam, KS; Max (Liz) Cerda of Kansas City, KS; Frances (Michael) Hamilton of Woodland Park, CO; Alicia (John) Salazar of Kansas City, KS; Maria Cerda of Berryville, AR; Eugenia (Artemio) Leal of Kansas City, KS; Rita (Roberto) Amparan of Kansas City, KS; Toni (Paul) Silva of Kansas City, KS; Nick (Angie) Cerda of Kansas City, KS; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Janie’s parents, and the love of her life and father of her first born (David Serda), Michael Garcia, preceded her in death. Janie loved family time, gardening, and next to her children and grandchildren, spending time with her dogs was her passion and brought her great joy. In light of the current circumstances and COVID-19, the family will hold a small private Celebration of Life in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Always and Furever Midwest Sanctuary in Spring Hill, KS.
