Magdalena J. Garcia, 92, of Kansas City, Kansas passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022. Magdalena the daughter of Benito and Martina Mendoza, was born on May 16, 1929 in Kansas City, Kansas. Magdalena quit school when she was 14 and went to work at Swift and Co. meat cutting factory for 38 years. In 1982 when she retired from Swift’s she worked part-time in the cafeteria selling desserts at Bishop Ward High School in KCK. Magdalena always had a smile for anyone who crossed her path. Her kind and loving spirit surrounded her constantly. She always put everyone else’s needs first, especially her family, before herself. The biggest joy in her life was having her family around her. Whether it was picnics, birthdays, Holidays, her grandchildren singing Christmas carols to her, she loved her family with all her heart. She was beautiful, strong and such a wonderful and caring Mother. She also loved music and had a great sense of humor. She shared a deep loving connection with her siblings. They made each other shine whenever they met. Her faith in God was strong and she enjoyed celebrating Mass weekly. She also enjoyed volunteering in the kitchen with many church fiestas. She was extremely proud of her Mexican heritage. She will be truly missed. She is preceded in death by both of her parents; husband John Garcia and son John P. (Joelynn) Garcia Jr. brother Martin Mendoza and sisters Margaret Carter, Paulina Guzman, Romona Cornelison and Cecilia Rojas. She is survived by her sons Joseph Abraham Garcia (Nancy Garcia), Martin A. Garcia; 2 daughters Teresa J. Garcia and Alma Friendt(Darren Friendt) ; 7 grandchildren and many great and great greatgrandchildren. There will be a visitation on Friday, January 21 from 10 - 11AM, with a Funeral Mass starting at 11AM at Cathedral of St. Peter's 409 N. 15 Street Kansas City, Kansas. Burial will take place at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in, Kansas City, Kansas. Magdalena love to donate to many charities, so in lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to either Paralyzed Veterans of America https://pva.org/ , Covenant House www.covenanthouse.org or Native American Indian Association www.calindian.org/.
