Mary Lou Harris, 85, of Kansas City, Kansas , passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 peacefully. Mary Lou was born on September 23, 1936 to James and Lucille (Clark) Matthews in Edwardsville, Kansas. After graduating from Turner High School, Mary Lou went on to support many industries as a Case Management writer, most recently supporting the trucking and road development industry. In 1959, she married Bob Lowrey, going on to have 2 children, Jamie and Mary Ann. Mary Lou then wed Richard Harris in 1969 and became the step-mother to 9 children, Mark, Mike, Kathy, Roy, Eddie, Judy, John, Paul and Pat. Richard passed in 1982. Mary Lou went on to spend the remaining years of her life with her dearest partner, Warren Spears. Mary Lou dedicated her life to family and friendships. Anyone having the opportunity to know her, knew that she lived passionately through fun and laughter and always being there for others. Mary Lou excelled at propping up members of her family and supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. Mary Lou was a passionate story teller and when she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found hanging out with friends at Sam’s or sitting in the pews at church. We will miss her greatly. Mary Lou was predeceased by James Lowrey (son), Warren Spears (partner), Richard Harris (spouse), Bob Lowrey (spouse), Dolores Haynes (sister), Billy and Patty Matthews (brother and sister in-law) and many others. Mary Lou is survived by her children, Mary Ann and Chris Heany Mark (Margaret) Harris, Mike (Elaine) Harris, Kathy and Tom Serrano, Roy (Beverly) Harris, Eddie (Dee) Harris, Judy and Lance Hill, John Harris, Paul Harris, Pat Harris. In addition, 70+ grand children, great grand children and great-great grand children along with many nieces and nephews and friends.The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to Maple Hill Funeral Home.
