Mary Estella Marquez, 63, of Kansas City, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Research Medical Center. Stella was born November 10, 1956 in Tulia, Texas the daughter of Irma Marie Rocha and Genaro Medrano Sr. Stella worked forty years as a nurse. At two years old she began working in the fields with her family as a migrant worker. Through hard work and determination while being doubted by others she gained the skills to become a CNA. This led her to a forty year career where she currently worked at Parkway as a LPN Charge Nurse. She enjoyed playing Bingo and crocheting. She loved visiting the beach, especially South Padre Island. Her favorite music artists were Ramona Ayala, Selena, the Beach Boys, and other tex-mex music. She also watched TV and especially Lifetime and Hallmark movies channels. She collected rocks, seashells, and anything purple, her favorite color. Most importantly she cherished spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She would often take them to the zoo and other places to spend quality time with them. Stella is preceded in death by her Parents Irma Marie Rocha, Genaro Medrano Sr.; Grandparents Gilberto Rocha Sr, Dolores Rocha; an aunt that was like a sister, Maria Dolores Rocha; and a grandchild, Anthony Marquez Bradley. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Manuel Marquez Sr.; three children, Cheryl Marie Marquez-Bradley (Leon Sr.) of Kansas City, KS, Manuel Marquez Jr. (Ayana) of Kansas City, KS; and Lorenzo Antonio Marquez of Kansas City, MO; three grandchildren, Cor’Nahlia Marie Bradley, Leon Cornelious Bradley Jr. and Leondre Marquez Bradley; brother Genaro Medrano Jr. (Tanya); and many nieces, nephews and other relatives in the Rocha Family. The family will hold a graveside service at 10:00 A.M, Wednesday August 26, 2020 at Maple Hill Cemetery
