Mary Lou Rodriguez Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mary Lou Rodriguez was a caring mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She left this world suddenly on Friday, May 13, 2022 at age 86. She was born to Joseph & Lucy Lopez of Kansas City on March 5, 1936. After graduating from Bishop Ward High School, Mary traveled to Chicago where she opened a dress shop and became a big-city entrepreneur. She later returned home, gained an associate degree from Donnelly College, thriving as a Social Worker, Hairstylist, and devoted United Telephone Company of Kansas employee. But once back in Kansas City, Mary helped her brother open one of Kansas City’s most iconic eateries, Manny’s Mexican Restaurant. From that point on, Mary solely focused on her family and their happiness. Whether it was one of her delicious, home-cooked meals or chaperoning a Girl Scouts trip, one thing is for sure, Mary Lou Rodriguez was adored by many. She is survived by her husband, Guillermo “Willie” Rodriguez; her brother Raymond Lopez (Isabel); her daughters Vickie Medina and Laura Villegas (Danny); her sons, John Aguirre and Mark Lopez; her stepdaughter Christina; her two bonus daughters Jessica Harper (Tommy) and JoMarie Salas; 14 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild. She is proceeded in death by her father, Joseph Lopez; her mother, Lucy Lopez; her brothers, Father Joseph Lopez and Manuel "Manny" Lopez; her sister Josephine Lopez; and her daughter Josephine Salas. Visitation will be held Monday, May 23, 2022 5-7pm at Maple Hill Funeral Home in Kansas City, Kansas. Mass will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2022 10am at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Mission, KS followed by burial at Maple Hill Cemetery.
