Nora was born in Kansas City, KS, on February 3, 1929, to Louis and Rose Simpson. She grew up in Armourdale, graduating from Argentine High School in 1947. Nora met her future husband, Marshall Wardwell, as a member of Full Gospel Tabernacle, later known as First Assembly of God, at 7th & Riverview. They married on June 30, 1947, and together, raised 5 children. She held several jobs, including grocery checker, bank teller, and realtor, but her most rewarding one was that of wife, mother, and grandmother. After retiring, she and Marshall lived at Gravois Mills, MO on the Lake of the Ozarks for 27 years. Special memories were created when their children and grandchildren visited the lake home. Nora enjoyed cooking for her family, especially pies, fried chicken, and crappie that Marshall caught. She was an accomplished seamstress, sewing clothing for her children and others, including formal and wedding dresses. Later, she made countless beautiful quilts, gifting them to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Nora attended her high school class reunions, serving on the reunion committees until she was 90. Faith was important in Nora’s life. She dedicated her children to God as babies, prayed for them, and taught them the importance of a daily walk with Jesus Christ. Over the years, she blessed many people with her kind servant heart. Although the past year has been difficult, she continued to enjoy church services online, her faith never wavering. Nora is survived by her loving children: Marshall (Connie) Wardwell of Greeley, CO, Nancy (David) Kozak of Ft. Worth, TX, Donna (Karl) Ferlas of Prairie Village, John (Nancy) Wardwell of Overland Park, and David (Rebecca) Wardwell of Shawnee; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 nephews. She joins her husband, parents, sister, Eula Manfield, and close cousin, Betty South Davis, along with other family and friends in her new home in Heaven. The family would like to thank Westchester Village of Lenexa for the excellent care given to Nora the past six weeks, and for the compassionate support given to them.
