Verna Faye Hanson

September 9, 1926 - February 5, 2022

Verna Fay Hanson, 95, of Olathe, Kansas passed away Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Cedar Lake Village. Verna was born September 9, 1926 in Muscle Shoals, Alabama the daughter of Verner and Laura Burton. They lived there for a short time until moving to Tennessee where Verna grew up, picking cotton with her brothers and sisters. Eventually she moved to the Kansas City area. Verna was a Harvey Girl for Fred Harvey Restaurant at UnionStation in Kansas City, Missouri and held several jobs as a secretary for numerous companies. She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ in Argentine, and then Olathe in 1989. Together she and her husband Edwin H. Hanson Jr. raised three children and spent sixty four years of marriage together until his passing in 2014. She loved being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings. She is survived by three children, Daniel Hanson of Desoto, KS, Mark Hanson of Lake of the Ozarks, MO, and Edwin Hanson III of Olathe, KS; six grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside service will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery, 2:00 PM, April 5, 2022
