Betty Lou Williams

Betty Lou Williams, age 89, passed away on August 23, 2016 at her home in Olathe, KS. She was born in Kansas City, Ks. She was employed in retail for many years. She was married to Harold R. Brown, and they had 3 children together. She married Charles E. Williams in 1993 and they were happily married until his passing in 2013. She believed in her death that she would reunite with Charlie, the love of her life, and with all those loved ones who have gone before her. We can imagine that they are enjoying this much awaited reunion. Betty was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. She provided a quiet and steady stream of nurturance and understanding to her family and friends. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and worked in her church tirelessly in many capacities over her life-time. She was a talented artist and loved to travel, garden, and read. Betty is survived by her children, Timothy Brown and his wife Kathy, of Williamsport Tennessee, and her daughter, Teri Smith and her husband Thomas, of Overland Park Kansas, her grandchildren, Cassidy Brannon, Karesa Smith, Joshua Brown, and Ashley Stewart and her great-grandchildren, Kinsley and Hudson Brannon, Kinzi Pontious, Anna and Christopher Smith, Kelsey Brown, and Sienna and Camden Stewart, and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Maggie Smith, two husbands, Harold Brown and Charles Williams, her siblings, Archie, Raymond, and Denny Smith and Mildred Proudfoot, her son, Christopher Brown, and her step-son, Leroy Hedstrom. A funeral service will be held at Maple Hill Funeral Home at 3300 Shawnee Dr, Kansas City, KS 66106, (913) 831-3345 at 10:00am August 29th. A visitation will be held August 28th from 5-7pm at the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow the funeral at Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Betty's last years when confined to her home were made bearable and even joyful thanks to visits from her family and friends, but especially thanks to her devoted caregiver, Bruce Duncan, who served her with love, compassion, and great humor. He and the hospice workers at Gentiva and nursing care providers at Cornerstone Assisted Home Care cannot be thanked enough.
