Bobbie J. Vavricek

At age 93, Bobbie Vavricek died peacefully in the family home on February 25, 2024. Born in Purcell, OK and raised in Seligman, AZ Bobbie was the daughter of Nelson and Ethel Bond of Kansas City, KS. Preceded in death by both parents, her husband of 47 years, Lumir “Bud” Vavricek, Siblings, Desolee Joan, John Bond, William “Junior’ Bond. Bobbie and Bud built a home in Morris, KS where they raised four amazing, surviving children: Bonnie Dunn (Mark), Patty Fleming (Tony), Sammy Vavricek (Mary) and Billy Vavricek (Dana). Bobbie is also survived by her sister Edith Hinton, of Barstow, CA, thirteen talented and creative grandchildren along with seven beautiful great grandchildren. Bobbie devoted her life to raising her family, however she was a talented and busy Cosmetologist. She spent 47 years styling hair of all colors, textures, and types. Her career extended beyond the styling salon and her children would often find her “fixing” or styling a neighbor or church member in her downstairs “shop”. Bobbie was a 4-H leader, a dedicated member and office holder in her Wyandotte County, KS Family & Community Education, FCE unit. Bobbie was a faithful follower of Jesus and made sure that her children followed her example. Nothing made her prouder than to seat an entire church pew with her family members. She volunteered as a Nursery Attendant at the Argentine Baptist Church; worked the Helping Hands ministry at Crossroads Christian Church and was a founding member of the women’s group S.W.I.N.G.S.(Strong Women in God’s Service), also at Crossroads Christian Church. An avid fan of classic movies, the Turner Classic Movie channel was her friend and a favorite past time. She never missed watching the Chiefs play football; closely followed and cheered the Kansas University Jayhawks, and the Kansas City Royals. Her opinions were strong, bold and openly shared; her heart was kind and genuine; her spirit was loving and gentle. Not a day will pass without her being remembered and greatly missed by many. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM with Funeral Services at 2:00 PM Thursday, February 29, 2024 at the Maple Hill Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Maple Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Crossroads Christian Church.
