Jean DeSeure

Emma Jean DeSeure, 90, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, August 2, 2026. Jean was born on May 7, 1936, in Saint Charles, Virginia, to Kate and Starling West. Throughout her life, she found her greatest joy in the people she loved. Family was the center of her world, and there was nothing she treasured more than bringing everyone together. Whether it was a holiday, birthday, or simply an excuse to gather, Jean loved hosting celebrations filled with laughter, good food, and cherished memories. Jean also enjoyed the thrill of a little friendly competition. She loved trips to the casino, spending time at the horse races, and playing Texas Hold'em, often with a cold Miller Lite in hand and family or friends by her side. She embraced life with a spirited personality and a deep appreciation for making every moment worth celebrating. A devoted woman of faith, Jean was a longtime member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph DeSeure; her children, Allen Milan and Elizabeth DeSeure; her daughters-in-law, Carol DeSeure and Cindy DeSeure; and her sister, Ann Lutjen. Jean is survived by her children, David DeSeure (Sharon), Donald DeSeure (Debbie), Joey DeSeure, Debbie Losensky (Frank), and Danny DeSeure (Linda); daughters-in-law, Kay Milan and Peggy DeSeure; sister Evelyn Rhodes; 18 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and dear friends. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1086 N. 94th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66112. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. A luncheon for family and friends will be held at the church following the burial services, all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Patrick Family & Marriage Ministry. Jean’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to hospice nurse Sarah Pascascio and caregiver Debbie Casares for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided.
