Gary Don Knapp Gary Knapp, 62, of KCK, passed away Dec. 22, 2017. To know Gary was to love Gary. He was never one to be anything but 100% authentic at all times. And if you were authentic too, you were in. He was a very loving man with one of the biggest hearts around. He always had advice, telling his boys, friends, loved ones to “get their minds right” or whatever other words of wisdom he had (not always welcomed!) but looked back upon as being insightful and right more often than we want to admit. Gary was born November 5, 1955 to George “Jack” and Marcia (Hanlin) Knapp. He had a sister, Valerie and a brother Danny. From a very young age Gary was a hard worker. One of his first jobs was at Tambee Ranch. Young in life he married Penny Lillard Bowers and had their beautiful son Robert. In 1985 he married Shirley Hardy, unconditionally welcoming two more sons into his life, Chris and Vince. Gary was a proud Local 518 cement mason. Though he worked off and on for other companies, his work family for life was at Martiny Construction, where he loved going to work everyday with his very best friend Vic. When his friend Bo talked him into buying a Harley, his life changed. He loved riding with his friends and all of the experiences that came with it, including at his favorite bar, K.C.’s. He spent his final years with girlfriend Lisa Osmun, whom he cared very deeply for. Lisa took impeccable care of Gary in his final years. She was there on his best days and his worst. She kept him in the home until his very last breath, for which we are eternally grateful. He died with his sons and Lisa by his side. His father, Jack, and his dear son, Robert, preceded him in death. He will be missed everyday by his mother, Marcia, girlfriend Lisa, sons Vince and Chris (Gina), sister Valerie (Larry), brother Danny (Teresa), grandkids Brittany, Halen, Lyndon, Amelia, Addelyn, and Alaric, niece Mandy, and nephews Cody and Jacob. He will also be missed greatly by the many friends who were like family to him. A Visitation will be held on Thursday Dec. 28th, 2017 from 6-8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, Dec. 29th, 2017, at 10 AM, with burial to follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
