Louis Eugene Coleman

Louis Eugene Coleman, age 95 1/2 + of Kansas City, KS was welcomed into Heaven peacefully on October 24, 2025. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, uncle and friend. Louis was born on February 12, 1930 in Upton, Wyoming, son of Lawrence and Grace May (Denney). He graduated from Camdenton, MO High School in 1948. On March 27, 1951 Louis married the love of his life, Dolly Dorene Leffert. Louis served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After receiving an honorable discharge, he farmed and worked at Blair Cedar Novelty Company in Camdenton for several years before he and Dolly relocated their four daughters to Kansas City, KS in 1964. Louis worked at the Ford Motor assembly plant until he retired. After his retirement, Louis and Dolly bought and managed several rental homes in their neighborhood. He was always willing to share his construction and rehab skills with his family and friends who asked for his help. Louis was a Christian and served as a deacon at New Hope Baptist Church in Kansas City, KS. He was a devoted husband and family man, was mischievous, loved to tease his family, and share his memories. He loved fishing, and hunting deer and antelope - including hunting trips to Wyoming with his son-in-law Jon, grandson Rick, and best friend Steve. He enjoyed attending his daughters’ band concerts, his grandchildren’s school events, and family gatherings. Louis is survived by his devoted daughters Pat Shanks Speer, Jan Manis and husband Mike, Sandy Coleman and partner Charly Young, Sue Schulze and husband Jon; grandchildren Patrese Shanks, Kathy Haff, Angie Dickerson, Ben Manis, Joey Manis, Michelle Manis, Bryon Hurley, Kenney Hurley, Bradley Mabary, and Rick Schulze; great grandchildren Kayla, Brett, Brendan, Brody, Aaron, Alyssa, Dominic, Liam, KJ, Angel, Anthony, Ariana, Kati, Gabe, and Jonny; great great grandchildren Hazel, Laney, Nora, Clayton, and Oakley; niece Kathy Cantrell and husband Robert; and many more nieces, nephews, and friends. Louis was preceded in death by his devoted wife Dolly; his parents Lawrence and Grace; brothers Charles and Kenneth; son-in-laws Dana Shanks, Don Speer, and Gary Cadwallader; and great grandson Mikey Schulze. Services at Maple Hill Funeral Home, 3300 Shawnee Drive, Kansas City, KS on Saturday, November 1, 2025 with Visitation at 11am, Service at Noon, and Graveside Service at Maple Hill Cemetery. The family has chosen Garden Gate Floral, Harrisonville, MO 816-380-2522, as their preferred florist. We celebrate Louis’ life and accomplishments, and will treasure the memories he created for those he leaves behind - until we gather for that Great Reunion in Heaven!
